Key Responsibilities
  • Lead large projects in the mining industry by following a professional project management approach during the design and development, manufacture, installation, and servicing of the MMD product line.
  • Ensure project objectives and success criteria are met in large mining related projects valued in excess of $100m.
  • Manage development and delivery of custom build semi-autonomous and or fully autonomous mining equipment on time, within budget using CAD and project management software and Microsoft Office and Microsoft Projects.
  • Develop new business cases for clients by conducting pre-feasibility and feasibility studies on mining-related projects.
  • Develop mining industry business cases through conducting complex pre-feasibility and feasibility studies by understanding client needs and converting them into design requirements to ensure a correct technical solution is selected and customer expectations are met.
  • Compare various mining technology options such as semi-mobile, fully mobile sizing stations, and correct selection of crusher and sizing technology to advise the client on best solution for their specific mining application.
  • Increase the company’s sales markets and customer base through the introduction of sales and marketing strategies relating to capital sales, spares sales and service contracts using the understanding of complex business requirements of customers and an understanding of Sales and Marketing in the mining industry utilizing prior experience and technical background in mining equipment including, crushers / sizers, feeders, stackers, reclaimers, conveying systems, material handling, remote control, and mining automation.
  • Manage workload and organizational output through acquiring, development and supervision of the necessary human resources and skill sets to ensure business objectives are achieved.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams in finance, engineering, sales and manufacturing.
  • Acquire appropriate human resources for the organization, applying appropriate performance management, and developing employees to ensure that organizational goals and objectives are met by driving high performance culture and proper Human Resource management.
  • Perform new product development and continuous product improvement by liaising with customers and Groups global structure.
  • Identify areas of technical improvement and cost efficiency related to existing products and projects utilizing project engineering management in mining and material handling fields.
  • Develop and improve business processes to deliver strategic objectives in general heavy engineering and manufacturing methods, to include welding, casting, forging, fabrication, heat treatments, machining and design principles including FEA, structural analysis and load cases.
  • Develop and refine maintenance strategies to optimise the performance for semi-mobile, fully-mobile and relevant mining equipment and projects including life cycle cost and cost of ownership of equipment considering each unique individual application.
  • Make quick decisions to resolve technical problems as they arise.
  • Provide support to the President ensuring the successful and efficient expansion of the business with setting up new manufacturing facilities.
  • Be involved in all major decision making that has influence over both the present and future of the business to grow the business and market share
Experience / Skills

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or mining related field. Foreign degree accepted.

Certification Required: Professional Registered Engineer Certification or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Experience Required: 10 years’ experience as an Engineer or Production Manager in the mining equipment industry.

Skill set Requirements (Special Requirements):

  • 10 years’ experience as an Engineer or Production Manager in the mining industry must include 5 years of experience as a Senior Manager or Director.
  • Demonstrable ability to compare various mining technology options such as semi-mobile, fully mobile sizing stations, and correct selection in crusher and sizing technology to advise client on best solution for their specific mining application.
  • Prior experience and demonstrable ability in Business case development in the mining industry.
  • Demonstrable ability in understanding client needs and converting them into design requirements to ensure correct technical solution is selected and customer expectations are met.
  • Demonstrable ability to conduct complex pre-feasibility and feasibility studies in the mining and mining machinery industry.
  • Prior experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams in finance, engineering, sales and manufacturing and diverse group of people.
  • Demonstrable ability and prior experience in acquiring appropriate human resources for the organization, applying appropriate performance management, and developing employees to ensure that organizational goals and objectives are met by driving high performance culture and proper Human Resource management.
  • Prior experience in managing the development of and delivering custom build semi-autonomous and or fully autonomous mining equipment on time, quality and budget.
  • Demonstrable ability to calculate life cycle cost and cost of ownership of equipment to customers, considering each unique individual application.
  • Prior experience with technical background in mining equipment including, crushers / sizers, feeders, tackers, reclaimers, conveying systems, material handling, remote control and mining automation.
  • Prior experience in setting up a new business or branch.
  • Prior experience in Sales and or Marketing in the mining industry.
  • Prior project engineering management experience in mining and material handling field.
  • Demonstrable ability to make quick decisions to resolve technical problems as they arise.
  • Demonstrable understanding of complex business requirements.
  • Prior experience in managing large mining related projects valued in excess of $100m.
  • Demonstrable ability to represent the company and interact on executive level both internally and with customers.
  • Demonstrable ability to develop and improve business processes to deliver strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrable ability and prior experience in general heavy engineering manufacturing methods, to include welding, casting, forging, fabrication, heat treatments, machining, and design principles including FEA, structural analysis, and load cases.
  • Demonstrable ability in using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Projects.
  • Demonstrable ability to use CAD and project management software.
Additional Information

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm

Travel Requirements: Possible domestic travel at short notice for up to 4 trips per month for up to 5 days per trip, and possible international travel at short notice for up to 6 trips per year for up to 10 days per trip.
