Head of Control & Electronics Engineering (JRN-32618)
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the full intelligence and electrical architecture of complex engineered systems, spanning supervisory controls, embedded software, HV/LV electrical systems, communications, validation, and production readiness. You will play a critical role in defining technical direction, building engineering capability, and ensuring the delivery of safe, robust, and scalable solutions from concept through to industrialisation.

Position: Head of Control & Electronics Engineering
Location: Douglas, Isle of Man
Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience
Reporting to: Programme Director – Mobile Equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Build, lead and develop the Control & Electronics engineering function, including people, tools and processes
- Define engineering standards, governance frameworks and software development lifecycle
- Establish best practice in model-based development and systems engineering
- Define and deliver supervisory control strategies across traction, braking, energy and thermal systems
- Lead development of embedded control software, calibration strategies and performance optimisation
- Establish and manage validation environments including HIL, SIL and MIL
- Drive structured V-cycle development and verification processes
- Own HV and LV electrical architecture strategy and integration
- Oversee design and integration of key systems including battery, inverter, DC/DC, OBC and communications networks
- Define system interfaces, standards and supplier integration requirements
- Ensure compliance with safety and functional integrity requirements
- Lead cross-disciplinary integration across mechanical, systems and production teams
- Oversee commissioning, fault finding and prototype development
- Drive transition from concept and R&D through to scalable production architecture
- Manage technical risk, system performance and delivery milestones
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in control, software and electrical engineering leadership
- Proven track record leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex programmes
Strong expertise in:
- Embedded control systems and software development
- Electrified propulsion systems and HV/LV architecture
- Model-based systems engineering
- System integration and validation processes
- Experience delivering programmes from concept through to production
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making capability
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required
