Programme Director – Mobile Equipment (JRN-32509)
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Individual to take ownership of our entire mobile equipment programme portfolio. You will lead multidisciplinary teams across design, engineering, procurement, build and testing phases to ensure successful project execution from concept through to delivery.
You will be responsible for ensuring that strategic objectives, engineering integrity, cost, quality and time targets are consistently met across all major equipment programmes.

Position: Programme Director – Mobile Equipment
Location: Douglas, Isle of Man
Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience
Reporting to: Group Managing Director, Directors
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the full programme lifecycle of mobile materials handling equipment projects (including haul trucks, trailers, relocatable systems, and battery-electric vehicle integration).
- Develop and manage the master delivery programme, resource planning, and cost controls for concurrent multi-discipline projects.
- Act as the key point of contact for executive management and clients, providing strategic updates and progress reporting.
- Drive collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and SHEQ functions to ensure alignment of technical requirements and programme objectives.
- Oversee risk, design assurance, and change control processes across the equipment portfolio.
- Mentor and develop project and engineering managers, setting clear expectations and promoting a high-performance culture.
- Maintain technical oversight and governance for equipment development in compliance with relevant standards and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with international teams, suppliers, and clients to optimise engineering solutions.
- Assist in troubleshooting and improving existing products and processes.
- Participate in international travel for site visits, project discussions, and technical support.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in mechanical engineering, design, or manufacturing.
- Proven track record of leading multifunctional engineering teams across diverse disciplines, driving cross-collaborative innovation and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Successfully managed complex projects from concept to completion, optimising performance, enhancing product quality, and achieving key business objectives through strategic leadership and technical expertise.
- Experience in mining machinery design (materials handling, including haul trucks, 10 years plus)
- Extensive experience in mobile or heavy equipment design, development, or deployment (electric or diesel). Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings and specifications.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven experience in product design within the mining industry
- Proven experience in Bulk Materials handling and mining
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally for project and client interactions.
