MMD are seeking to employ a Painter/Fettler to work as part of a team in their existing industrial fettling and paint workshop. The role will involve fettling and painting new mining equipment to MMD’s own specifications, painting new mining equipment to external paint specifications, and repairing / re-furbishing second hand equipment.

Painter/Fettler

MMD are seeking to employ a Painter/Fettler to work as part of a team in their existing industrial fettling and paint workshop. The role will involve fettling and painting new mining equipment to MMD’s own specifications, painting new mining equipment to external paint specifications, and repairing / re-furbishing second hand equipment.

Your Roles will include but not be limited to:

  • Removal of excess weld spatter on Fabrications/Castings.
  • The removal of sharp edges on Fabrications/Castings prior to painting.
  • Cleaning and wiping down fabrications in preparation for painting.
  • Protecting areas of equipment that need to remain paint free, prior to painting.
  • Wearing PPE equipment needed to perform each task in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Shotblasting items in an enclosed booth.
  • Measuring and mixing different types of industrial paints.
  • Setting up and cleaning painting equipment.
  • Spraying of fabrications/castings to set procedures.
  • Checking DFT’s of sprayed items using measuring equipment that is compliant to the relevant paperwork.
  • Assisting the manufacturing department with other roles as and when required.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have qualifications in painting.
  • Be familiar with the relevant ISO standards which include ISO 8501 / ISO 8502 / ISO 8503 / ISO 8504 / ISO 11124 / ISO12944.
  • Understand paint systems.
  • Have experience in multiple paint systems.
  • Be able to set up painting equipment in line with the relevant paint systems.
  • Be able to mix and prepare paints.
  • Be able to work individually or as part of a team.
  • Be hardworking and self-disciplined.
  • Be able to multitask whilst maintaining good organisational skills.
  • Be able to work to deadlines.
  • Take pride in their work.
