Position: Proposals Engineer
Location: Douglas, Isle of Man
Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience
Reporting to: Group Managing Director & Projects Director
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed technical and commercial proposals based on customer requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, sales and production teams to define project scope and costs.
- Interpret technical specifications, drawings and tender documents to develop competitive proposals.
- Prepare cost estimates, pricing strategies and risk assessments for each proposal.
- Ensure proposals meet industry standards, regulations and company guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of proposals, revisions and related documentation.
- Provide technical support to sales teams during client meetings and negotiations.
- Participate in international travel to meet with clients, assess project sites and present proposals.
- Continuously review and refine proposal processes to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in proposals, estimating or a related technical engineering role.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and produce clear, concise proposals.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise across departments.
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in the mining, heavy machinery or manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of contract negotiation and commercial project management.
- Knowledge of bulk materials handling.
