Position: Technical Writer
Location: Douglas, Isle of Man
Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience
Reporting to: Principal Mechanical Engineer & Projects Director
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain technical documentation, manuals and reports.
- Work closely with engineering, design, and production teams to gather and interpret technical information.
- Develop clear, concise, and user-friendly documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Incorporate illustrations, CAD drawings, and diagrams to enhance understanding.
- Ensure documentation meets industry standards, regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Manage version control, updates and documentation consistency.
- Proofread and edit technical content to ensure accuracy, clarity and readability.
- Support the development of training materials and instructional guides.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in technical writing, engineering documentation, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of engineering terminology, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and documentation management software.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise documents.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for incorporating technical illustrations (preferred).
- Degree or Diploma in Technical Writing, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
Preferred Experience
- Experience in mining, heavy machinery or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of ISO standards, compliance documentation and regulatory guidelines.
