MMD celebrates 40 years of mining innovation
MMD has celebrated 40 years of mining innovation at it's base in Somercotes, Derbyshire.
The evening was an opportunity to look back over the proud history of the company and acknowledge the commitment, passion and dedication of it's staff. The company has grown from humble beginnings to a global leader in mineral Sizing and IPCC technology.
Longstanding employees were presented with an engraved crystal claret jug to thank them for their years of service.
Carl Emerson (pictured with Group Managing Director Martin Vorster) joined Mining Machinery Developments during the company’s very first summer in 1978.
Carl commented: “I’ve had an incredible journey with MMD – I’ve worked on projects, travelled, and had experiences that I don’t believe any other company could have given me. There’s a real family feel within the group of companies, and our reputation is something I’ve always taken pride in. From day one, right through to today, our customers have remained incredibly important to us. If there is ever a problem, we won’t just walk away or turn our back.”
As the group of companies has expanded over the last 40 years, the family feel has extended to each new office. Talent within MMD has traditionally been home-grown, ensuring that each office carries the same business DNA. Four decades of knowledge and experience has been carefully retained and harnessed for each new project.
Company founder Alan Potts believed that “everything you achieve in life is through people” – and so the evening culminated with a moment of gratitude as the Group Managing Director personally thanked everyone for their time, commitment and hard work for MMD. Here’s to the next 40 years!
