MMD GPHC Ltd, a trusted Isle of Man business and long-standing supporter of community initiatives, is proud to announce its sponsorship of Laxey AFC’s junior football kits for the upcoming season. This partnership demonstrates MMD’s commitment to grassroots football and the future of young people on the island.
Raising Awareness for Wish Upon a Dream Charity
As part of this sponsorship, MMD has taken the opportunity to shine a spotlight on a very special local cause. Each junior kit will proudly feature the logo of Wish Upon a Dream, a Manx charity dedicated to granting wishes to terminally ill children across the Isle of Man.
Gary Blakemore, Group Financial Director at MMD GPHC Ltd, said:
"Having already built a relationship over the years with Laxey AFC, we were delighted when they considered us, following the natural conclusion of their previous sponsorship. The decision to take on the sponsorship of the Junior Squads was a very easy one to make, but the way in which we wished to utilise the exposure it would offer us, has led us down an even more exciting path. Whilst we are very proud to have our badge adorning the prominent strip of Laxey AFC, we are equally as proud to endorse and support the fabulous cause championed by Wish Upon a Dream. Our own wish is that the more people who are made aware of the positive and truly valuable work they conduct, the more people may look to get involved."
Mike Murley, Laxey AFC Club Secretary echoed this sentiment:
"Laxey Football Club are delighted to join MMD and ‘Wish Upon a Dream’ in a unique partnership arrangement for our 250 Junior players and 30 coaches. MMD have been a supporter of the club for a number of years and their generosity and commitment have played a vital role in the development of our junior teams and the community spirit we foster both on and off the pitch. In the same spirit of giving back, Laxey AFC is proud to support Wish Upon A Dream, a wonderful Isle of Man charity dedicated to granting wishes to sick and terminally ill children. We believe every child deserves joy, hope, and family memories, and we’re honoured to play a small part in supporting the incredible work this charity does. The new team shirts will draw attention and awareness to the charity wherever we are playing and create more exposure to ‘Wish Upon a Dream’. In support of the charity the club has already agreed to donate £1 for every night a TT camper stays on our TT campsite site which should generate over £2000 for the charity this time next year. Together with MMD and in support of Wish Upon A Dream, we’re committed to making a positive difference—on the field and in our community."
